Dubai’s culture dates back to the mid 19th century when the Creek, the city’s most distinct identity and veritable lifeline, flourished as a maritime centre of commerce, pearling and fishing, bringing along its own charming heritage and civilization. While Dubai has evolved since then, rising to emerge as the fastest growing city in the region, the nostalgia of a bygone era has continued to persist. Today, the original small settlement along the 14-km long waterway has developed beyond imagination, attracting people from across the globe and turning into a thriving cosmopolitan community.

Culture Village seeks to rejuvenate the romance and mystique of a civilisation that flourished by the creek. Built on a staggering 40-million square feet plot of land, Culture Village will be Dubai’s first creek-side mixed-use master development offering a multitude of residential, commercial, retail, entertainment and cultural districts, all within a single destination. Culture Village will also feature an innovative art centre developed by Art Jameel, one of Abdul Latif Jameel Community Initiatives. This art centre will be a venue for the Jameel Art Collection and the Jameel Prize. The centre will aim to support local and regional creative businesses and provide a platform for creative ideas and encounters.
